The Breñas lie just south of Santa Cruz and comprise Breña Alta (Upper Breña) and Breña Baja (Lower Breña). San Pedro is the main town at just 350m above sea-level and only 9 km south of the Santa Cruz and centrally located along the east coast.
Breña Alta includes the fishing port at the harbour of Santa Cruz and the broad sand beach of Bajamar, 1km from the capital.
Breña Baja includes one of the three main holiday resorts on La Palma - Los Cancajos.
